Google Chromecast

Although Google has failed a couple times already trying to get a TV set-top box to be successful,  it’s new Chromecast device may change that.  It has two characteristics which will be in it’s favor-price and simplicity.  At only $35, it’s way cheaper than any comparable device.  And it is simple-only an HDMI plug on one end, and USB port on the other.

And the installation instructions are just as simple- Plug Chromecast into any HDTV, connect it to WiFi, then send videos and more from your smartphone, tablet or laptop to your TV with the press of a button.”  It works with any android, Windows, or iOS device.    It generates it’s own wifi hotspot which then pairs with the existing wifi in your house.  Basically you stream anything from a chrome browser to the device through a button on the browser itself.  The good thing is it doesn’t stream from the device you’re using, so it won’t kill your cellphone battery.  It has the ability to work with Netfix, among others, and you can get a 3 month free subscription when you purchase Chromecast.

Already sold out at Amazon and the Google Playstore, this looks to be a very popular choice for tv media streaming.  It will compete with the Roku and Apple tv devices, but at it’s much lower price, it seems to already become very popular.
