Playbase Tablet For Kids

Singapore based company Playbase will begin taking preorders for it’s new tablet November 15th in the UK. Designed for children, it is a very sturdy tablet, with a metal back cover. The edges are rounded, so no sharp corners to poke little eyes. It’s rubberized Playcover is what sets it apart from other tablets. It can be used as a stand, but when attached as a cover, it provides protection from dirt, liquids, and scratching.

The seven inch, 800×600 screen tablet has decent specifications.  1.2GHZ Arm Cortex processor,  1GB ram, and 8GB storage are better than many cheaper tablets.  It does have a micro-sd card slot, and is wifi-only.  It has a front-facing camera, stereo speakers, and ships with a custom themed version of Google Android 2.3, Gingerbread.

Priced at around $270USD, it’s not the cheapest tablet, but it is reasonable compared to many other seven inch tablets out there.  It is expected to be available through Amazon after December 1st.  So if you have young children, and don’t want them spilling soda or scratching your IPad or expensive android tablet, this may be a fairly inexpensive way to introduce them to tablet computing.  Christmas is right around the corner, you know!
