    flashing nvFlash ROM from linux

    Hi,

Is there a way to flash an NVFlash ROM from linux?

My main laptop now runs Ubuntu, however I do still have access to a windows box
As such, I can always flash from there if necessary, however, I was wondering if it was possible to extract the relevant files and push from linux.

    Thanks

Yep there is a way... But you have to have wine installed. You can then start the exe. When it says that the device cannot be found, leave it sitting there. Go to your home dir/.wine/c_drive/username/temp go to the dir that is in there and copy all the stuff into another dir. Go and find the nvflash linux executables. Make a shell script that contains the parameters that are in the .bat file (offcourse using the linux nvflash exe). You can delete all the dll files and windows exe files. Run the shell script and flash away.

Actually, you can also get a linux binary version of nvflash and all you have to do is type in " ./nvflash"

Actually the Linux nvflash is included in the self extracting archive including a shell script with the complete nvflash call needed to flash.

You just need a way to extract the SFX.

If you have wine and double click the .exe, (you should have the correct permissions set on it) it will ask you where to extract it. From there you can flash it away.
