Well, that's odd; all of the links here are to ROMs that I have personally used - identical in all regards to the ones originally uploaded by their original creaters.

Has anybody else experienced this problem; I would hate to be responsible for any viral infections of peoples computers.

If anybody can report similar, that would be appreciated.

edit: Just tested with AVG and the file is reported as 'clean' with no threats detected.

I was really responding to Post #5 where the guy could not find the file after download - maybe his 'security s/w' deleted it. All the other files I downloaded were fine - Norton reported checking but found them safe, it was just this Modstock V2 - could be my Norton is 'oversensitive'. I have now downloaded from Rapidshare and Norton OK'd it.

    No problem, hjg...

Still concerned that it should be flagged up by Norton, though...very weird.
Even more weird is that Norton OK'd the version from RapidShare...

Anyway, you've got it and that's the main thing.

    what rom to install

Hi, new to the forum and new to Android - and out of my depth a little!

I have a Vega and wanted to install 3.2. Do I need to install (1) Modstock 2, (2) then rom 3.2, (3) then Rom 3 update on top of rom 3.2?

Is 3.2 as safe (secure) to use as the standard 2.2 rom that comes with the device?

    Appreciate any guidance on this.

    Hi, mack250...

Yes, you have the order right...

    1) nvFLASH ModdedStock v2
    2) ClockWorkMod FLASH VegaComb3.2 Build9n
    3) ClockWorkMod FLASH the update, Update 3n

    Take a look here...

    Help with Reflashing ModdedStock V2

    ...and here...

    WalkThru to latest VegaComb ?

for a couple of quick walk-'thrus on how to flash these ROMs...

    ---------------

VegaComb 3.2 is based on HoneyComb and offers very considerable performance improvements over the stockrom, and I don't think its any less secure. Certainly, whilst running it for several months last year, I never had any problems with it (...currently running VegaICS).

    -bump-

I can't make this a 'sticky', so I've 'bumped' this thread to prevent it from falling off the first page...

-bumped for the last time - ... as interest in ModdedStock and VegaComb now appears to be waning.

Not surprising really, given the excellence of HoneyIce Chimera and VegaICS, and how easy it is to flash them.

    -----

I'll always remember VegaComb as the ROM which introduced me to TabletRoms, which back in September of 2011, had a policy of hiding download links from guests (ie. those without posting permissions)...

... so I registered ... it was purely mercenary on my part - I just wanted to get my hands on the best ROM available for my Vega; I had no idea then, that I would get sucked in and spend so much time here, posting and reading stuff... and I certainly had no idea that I would wind up actually 'hosting' the very files I originally signed up for. Life's weird sometimes!...

    -----

My dropbox links at the top of this thread will continue to work as long as my dropbox account holds out - they might get suspended from time to time (as happened recently), due to "excess traffic" - but they're usually back up and running in a few days or so.

If not, just post back here or send me a PM and I'll upload ModStock/VegaComb, to my recently created MediaFire account. (Thanks to MikhailM for his sage advice on setting that up...)

Glad to be of assistance, TRION... and I hope you enjoy VegaComb....

Your thanks, whilst appreciated, should really be reserved for the creators of VegaComb... all I'm doing is hosting it.

Any problems, post back here or on the main VegaComb thread ( [ROM] [3.2] Vegacomb 3.2 Build 9n - Update 3 )
