did some tests on dpi settings 120 and 160, i dont understand why people are wanting to go down to 120dpi, text readability is considerably better at 160dpi for me.

Text appears perfectly legible at 120 on my Vega - the problem is that some of the apps will not work at that setting. Actually 132 or 140 would be ideal, but VegaICS will not work at anything other than the standard settings.

    Hi,

I've found a Gmail.apk, that should work also on 120/130/40dpi in ICS - so for us on vegaICS in 120/160dpi . But now I can't test it, because the /system/app is readonly filesystem. Is that switchable to readwrite?
It's the first time I saw, the /system/app-folder is not writeable with root-rights. So I've tried to copy the new Gmail.apk with an selfmade cwm-zip, but also no luck.

    Anyone can help here?

    regards

    Hi, bistra...

Can't you just install the APK from the SD card using a file manager... (something like Dual Filemanager XT available from Market)

Just click the APK (in whartever folder you have copied it to) and it should install...

Weird... I have had no problems changing system APKs this way before... indeed, when I was running Alpha at 120dpi, and getting endless problems with gmail, I used this very method to change to an older version of gmail... it didn't solve the problem, by the way.

...and apologies for getting your name wrong in the last post.

Just a thought can you not put it into " gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip " /system/app folder --- for instance, install this through clockworkmod like i say just an idea as i dont know much about how cwm works internally
