I fitted new speakers I got from a laptop!

As my other post here shows my quest to repair my blown speaker which was as a result of using rom 44.. My post started in the new 3.2 thread as that's when I 1st noticed the blown speaker.. Since 3.2 hasn't blown any speakers it has to have been the 44 rom which we were warned not to use but I went ahead anyway.. My own fault.

    http://tabletroms.com/forums/vega-ro...ld-6-a-28.html

I basically took a speaker out of a mobile phone and put it in the old speaker housing and it worked a treat and nobody could ever tell i'd done it.

But today I got another idea..

I find this old Toshiba Equium L40 in my shed that I had a few years back.. I opened it up, took the pair of speakers out which are in nice little casings and all in one piece cables and all and all that was needed was to unplug the cable..

I open the vega up and these babies plug right into the socket on the board the vega uses for speakers!

I turned it on and I've got myself a decent stereo!! it's way louder than the vegas speakers..

I had to cut the casings down to size, there was absolutely not a micro millimeter to spare but I got it in and the back case goes on again.

Now I have amazing sound coming from my vega!!

Well done on the fitting of those speakers.

How easy was it to gain access to the speakers in the vega and did you have to glue or fix those speakers in that you have used..?

I will shortly have a couple of those sets of speakers on the way to me and so I'm glad that you have photos of them, which include a cutaway one.

EDIT: I found your other post here...

...so thanks for including the methodology you used in stripping down the Vega and fitting the speakers.

Hi Dibbles, may I ask where you sourced you replacement speakers from? ...I appear to be in need too ;-)

    Cheers :-)

I have ordered mine from ebay. I just searched "toshiba equium l40 speakers" and selected from there. I understand that others might fit but as those are shown above I thought it made sense to go with them.

What happened to yours to need a new set..? And was it whilst using build 7 ?

    Good luck

Thanks mate, I'll check it out on eBay. I think I blew my speakers on build 43 if I remember rightly - I'm glad its something that can be self repaired :-)

Is it worth doing this if stock speakers are undamaged?
