Bilgediver has had only good things to say about Miui in the Nook general discussion thread. I'm going to give it a try this weekend, time permitting.

Yes, I have, 1.8.5 works even better because of Dalingrim's overclocking kernel that's used.
With it we can use "Nook Tweaks" that you can get on the market.

With Nook Tweaks the highest I've been able to overclock 1.8.5 is a stable 1300 Mhz (any higher and it starts freezing and acting weird).

I also installed ADW Launcher Ex and now it runs smooth as silk, you can totally tell the 512 Megs of Ram (compared with only 256).

Default Miui is a little different, the launcher doesn't have an app drawer, apps install an icon on your home screen, so you have every single app on your homescreen as well as whatever widgets you have. Needless to say it can get very cluttered unless you add folders. I didn't bother I just used ADW Ex and love it.

I tried the phiremod MIUI version but got a tone of Force Closes. I ended up going back to phiremod V6.3. I may try the native port above and see how that goes.

Did you restore apps with data when you tried MIUI? Supposedly that will cause force closes with MIUI-they recommend only restoring the app, not app&data.

Nope the FC started before I restored or installed any applications. I may give it another chance later.

I tried this rom, couldn't get it to work right. Market started downloads, but never completed one. Force closes-android.process.media, acore, etc. Back soft button works one out of ten times, always have to hit home. I am bummed, going to restore the backup of Nook OS, and continue using N2A card.

Really? I closed the soft buttons and reopened them and now they work 100% of the time.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you.

Tried that with the buttons, didn't help. The fc's and market not downloading were the deal killers.
