[KK-ROM] Slim ROM Android 4.4.4 KitKat for ADAM [WIP] [2014-06-22]

This is an unofficial port of Slim ROM which is a performance oriented ROM based on KitKat for the ADAM. See official omnirom web site for more details.

Unlike other Kit Kat ROMs so far this ROM uses 2.6.39 kernel which was used in CM10.1 and seems to be free of the initial freezing during setup, although there are still some pauses ocassionally. USB should also be fully functional and the ROM is fully pre-rooted.

3G is included, but am unable to test since I have Wifi only version.

You will need the latest ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.4.8 to install this ROM and may have to increase system size if installing full Google Apps package. If this is your first time installing a KitKat ROM you should download full NVFLASH Katkiss 4.4 package before trying to flash this ROM to increase the size of your system partition:
[KK-ROM] KatKiss Android 4.4 KitKat ROM for ADAM [WIP]

    Install Instructions for Windows

Flash a New Recovery Image (download cwmrecovery_6.0.4.8 )

    1. Find the recovery image you want and MAKE SURE IT IS FOR YOUR PHONE (should say in where you download it what phone it is for).
    2. Write down the filename of the recovery image EXACTLY as it is written (you can copy the details from inside a file manager too)
    3. Put the recovery image file on the SD card
    4. Download Terminal from the Market if you donít already have it and install it (there are a few different terminals in the Market some have an onscreen keyboard and some donít experiment till you get one, also hold down Menu in some of them to bring up the onscreen keyboard if you donít see it).
    5. Open the Terminal program and type the following (with hitting enter at the end of each line):
    su
    flash_image recovery /sdcard/name-of-recovery.img
    6. In the above text, replace name-of-recovery.img with the name of your recovery image (make sure the .img is on the end).
    7. Phone should pause for a second and then show you a new blank line. Turn it off and back on by holding down Home and Power to ensure it flashed correctly. Done.

Alternate way to install recovery image via Windows:

1a. Download from links below the ROM, any updated boot.img, google apps if needed, SuperSU if you need root, and ClockWorkMod.
    2a. Extract ClockWorkMod recovery zip.
3a. Connect Adam via usb to computer.
4a. Set Adam to nvflash recovery mode by holding Volume - and power on.
5a. Goto driver manager in Windows and you should see some APX device, and right click on update the driver for this device.
6a. Set Browse driver to Drivers/Driver32-bit/ and install.
7a. run "flashrecovery.bat recovery.img" in command line and wait till it finished flashing or drag recovery.img onto flashrecovery.bat.

Install Instructions for ROM ZIP package:

    1. Download from ROM ZIP, Google Apps, and SuperSU if root needed from the links below to your Adam.
    2. You must use ClockWorkMod Recovery 6.0.4.8 (Version is important), if you don't have this version you should download and install with NVFLASH package first.
    2. Power on Adam while holding Volume + to enter recovery mode.
    2. Select "Wipe data/factory reset" and then "Yes - wipe all user data".
    3. Select "Mounts and storage" and then "format /system" and then "Yes - format".
    4. Select "Install zip" and then "choose zip from [location where you downloaded ROM ZIP]" and then select ROM.zip and then "Yes - Install ROM.zip".
    5. Select "reboot system now".
    6. Install Google apps.zip if needed.
    7. Install SuperSU.zip if need root access.
    8. If you don't need to update boot.img skip to step 11, reboot while holding volume - to go into nvflash recovery again.
    9. Copy downloaded boot.img into your nvflash directory.
    10. Run "flashboot.bat boot.img" in command line.
    11. Restart after it is finished flashing and you will boot into your new Kitkat ROM.

thanks for posting the rom Tenchi.
re: Cwm. is this Borkatas old 6048? The reason I ask is that his cwm-ver6.0.4.8 didn't resize/format correctly for me.
Actually only one of the three ver: cwm6047s on this site did. It was ... "CWM-6.0.4.7" linked on Borkatas LiquidSmooth OP.

May I request a new "standard" CWM that will work for all? (with ALL others removed).
Perhaps in its own thread with detailed instructions. Then all other roms could simply point to it. Now that we have so many great roms to play with!
    Thanks once again.

The cwm 6048 is the latest freshly built from cm11 source and not from Borkata, so please test and let know if you encounter any issues. Partitioning is working on my Adam with this build. Once more people verify it is working for them will post in new thread. Note that manual format of system before installing ROM is still required.

    Hi Tenchi,
installed your cwm 6048 via nvflash. repartitioned sdcard (ext4) to 2nd highest setting. (can't remember exact figure, leaving ext-sd 300MB).
clicked on "view log"..there were about a dozen bad block errors.
Re-installed "CWMRecovery_6.0.4.7.img with nvflash. Repartitioned sdcard (ext4) to 6048MB, ExtSD 300MB. No errors in log.

It could just be that 6048 now checks for bad blocks and 6047 didn't check...did you check if the ROM booted okay with 6048 repartition?

no Tenchi didn't bother, I used ver 6047 because I know it "works".
I installed the rom, and its locked up twice. Once whle copying files across usb and later rebooting instead of waking up from sleep.

edit: Pacman worked fine for me with only minor issues, so i'm assuming (hoping) I don't really don'y have bad blocks!! ...hmmm.

edit2: badblocks still there after repartitioning/formatting with 6047. Looks like they are bad after all. bummer.

    Hi Tenchi,
    re: recovery6048.img
    "mkdir /storage 0050 root sdcard_r" # typo "sdcard_rw" line 34

    ps: in "/sbin" what are files named " [ " , & " [[ " ?

edit2: repacked recovery6048.img with above typo fixed and flashed it.
repartitioned sdcard to 6gig, 0 swap, ext4. Formatted all filesystems ...
error in log reads: " mounting /devblock/mmcblk0p1 failed Too many symbolic links"
    error2 in log: formatting /data ; formatting unknown device...rm can't remove "." or ".."

The /storage should be fine either as sdcard_r or sdcard_rw as the main directory doesn't need write permissions, it's the subdirectories that get write anyways by vold.

Not sure about the other things though...
