Acer Iconia Tab A210
i have posted this here because there is no section for the A210 model.
i have a problem. my brother got a Iconia Tab A210 for christmas and yesterday he forgot his worded password for the android lock screen.
i have tried a hard reset but holding down the volume + & power with the screen lock switch on lock and then when the tablet vibrates on release the power button whilst hoding vol + and unlocking the screen lock but it will not hard reset.
i have been on the phone to acer who said its not covered by warranty and would have to be sent into them to be unlocked at a fee for £71.50
is there no other way of unlocking this tablet or reinstalling Jelly Bean? and i dont mean hacking with custom roms or files.
surely theres gotta be a way. this is the most stupidest thing ever.
can someone please help.
If he has a g-mail account setup on it, after enough failed attempts, between 5 or 10, it should ask him for his g-mail information to unlock. You could also connect the tablet to the computer, power it on and try to use adb to boot into recovery. Then reset the tablet.

on all the sites i went on, even acer, they was all saying put screen lock into lock position then hold down Power + Vol + key and when it vibrates release the power whilst still holding vol + and slide the screen lock to unlock but it just would not work.
then i noticed on the acer site that you could download the jellybean update zip and underneath it said to update it put it on a sd card and then once inserted, press and hold power and vol - keys and when it vibrates release the power button and keep hold of vol -. then when it vibrates a second time release vol - and then hold vol +.
that then got me into a boot menu recovery screen that looked a bit like clockwork mod recover.
it was when i was on that screen that i noticed the factory reset, so i selected it and it worked, it had scrubbed the tablet.
so was really really annoyed that acer wanted me to send it in and charge £71.50 to probably do what i just did.
why was i never told this on the phone. when i was on the phone he asked what was wrong and asked for my details and then put me on hold and came back saying there is no way around it but to send it in and have it unlocked at £71.50.
you know the saying, if you want something doing, do it yourself.
