    Question Folio vs thrive

I was wondering if there are some chances that the thrive hardware can be compatible with our folio.
At least the defects are the same: sod, unresponsive home button...

I was looking for a dump of thrive's firmware but I wasn't lucky enough.

My folio is ready to try

    i dont think so..

the specs im sure are very different, and touchscreen as well..

i think toshiba followed with a development on the ventana board, which is also used by samsung, acer, asus . and since we can port those to acer with hardly no trouble..

but nice thought, but kernel changss are the biggest job, which require alot of rewriting.

Sadly I think you're right because the folio is based on the nvidia harmony platform.
Btw, I'll give it a try once I'll be able to put my (dirty ) hands on a thrive rom.

original dumps can be found at xda, somone there dumped the stock rom, but no kernel or boot.img is available, so that leaves you with just an image and nothing to boot it.

ok, i got it but there is a "little" problem: both boot.img and system.img won't fit inside the folio emmc...
the only chance is to change the partition map but I'm scared of doing it!

I don't know if there is another way to push those images in a smaller partition maybe removing empty space.
    Atm I'm clueless...

you will probably need to cut down the boot.img, as your rip is the full partition, but image is not actually so big..but itneedsrebuilding..

same with system.img, you need to remove apps from it, to fit a folio anyways, which takes alot, and then finally make it fit the partition you got on folio.

Ok, maybe my work will be useless but in the meantime I'm learning how to disassemble boot and system images.

Now I have a stripped down version of the boot.img (3295232) and a system folder (217744KB).
I was looking for a guide to make an update.zip file but no one of those I found, is clear about how to fix permission for the system partition.

I was trying to loop mount the system.img but it sorted out that is not possible, then I lost all attributes during extraction.

Does someone as a suggestion or a pre built script framework for the update.zip ?

a very good starting point is the "primee" rom i made , which you find in the acer a500 section..

i used it with my beta roms for new hardware kernel, which never got to work, but it was 100% update script and no images inside (except boot.img).. see that script, it should help alot and works.. except the mount command need the "/dev/block/mmcXXXXX" info as well as where to mount at.

Ok, I'm downloading your yesterday primee release and use it as framework.
    Thanks.
