Sero 7 Lite and Pro Review

So, I kind of broke from the usual on this one, and I have made this review a side-by-side comparison type.

ADD version: The pro has much better specs, but those don't translate into a better user experience because most of the things you will be doing/playing just don't take advantage of the 4 cores. However one big drawback is that the Pro was stuck on awful hdmi output resolution

It's probably the OS but the Antutu scores for both are a little low for the proc type and the Quadrant may show it as well in the Pro. Given your issue with HDMI and the score it probably is. Hardware wise other than the batteries these look nice on paper. I can only imagine they went for a better quality lower mAh battery in both than a cheaper high mAh battery which are notorious for being mismarked and faked.

The RK3066 chip in the lite is very capable, it does benchmark consistently as high or higher than Tegra3 in many tests. Not a lot of software even takes advantage of dual-core yet, let alone quad-core. The android operating itself does, though, so I imagine the pro feels quicker while in the UI. The smallish batteries are kind of a turnoff, though.

For whatever reason(s), they seemed about equal in almost all respects.

Maybe the 4.1 is a little more polished than the 4.2, also. RK3066 is a very good chip, I have 2 tablets with it, and see no reason to upgrade to quad-core RK3188.

I am actually getting rid of my Excite 10 because I can't see any difference in performance between the Tegra 3 and my RK3066. Benchmark differences are minimal and actual feel the RK feels faster in the UI. Granted the Toshiba does have all the proprietary apps. Even my two Touchpad run everything I have well with no visible difference with the Excite.

So what was the ultimate verdict? Go back both or keep one?

Well, I kept one, but mostly because I could not find the receipt.

Price drop at Walmart for both these, the Lite is $80, the Pro $130. For that price, it might be worth taking a look at.
