Unless Toshiba rools you back, there never will be. Google did not release source on HC, so no exploit was found. MAybe when ICS is out in full force then an exploit will be found that will allow rooting without fastboot.

I,ve got to say that the whole reason I went with the Thrive (besides the ports) was the hackability. This makes my Thrive virtually useless to me!

Go to the official Toshiba site and ask for a way to roll your device back. The more that ask the better. Toshiba might then post one.

OK, I cried to them and tried to post a screenshot of the thread with the mod's reply but guess what? My Thrive IS NOT ROOTED!!! Man this sux!
Anyways te mod said the complaints have been forwarded. There are a lot of complaints their about this update so hopefully this will get worked out soon.
Dale, do you have an opinion why they would remove fastboot? Do they have an interest in preventing guys like us from rooting? Does it effect them in any way? Did they think there wasn't enuff interest to justify it? What are your thoughts.

It is actually quite simple. Starting with HMJ37.01.5.0032, Toshiba added DRM to the Thrive to allow users to rent and download movies from Google Market. To add rhis feature, they made an agreement with Google to protect DRM from hacking. To do this, they had to lock the device down. To do that, they had to remove fastboot from the device. I too wish this was not the case, but I do understand it. With any luck, I will be able to continue to post rootable versions of all the new ROMs.
