DragonTouch 9.7 AllWinner A10 Stock and Custom firmware.

The link below are for the DragonTouch 9.7, 16GB, Dual Camera, 10 point Capacitive IPS screen tablet. They are commonly sold on Amazon by TabletsExpress and on Flea-bay. The manufacturer would not provied stock firmware flashing so I have spent the last couple months working on these.

The Stock ROM is built soley off the stock system files with only some minor adjustments to fix known bugs such as lag and screen jitter.

The Custom ROM has some more aggressive tweaks to WiFI, system performance, and cosmetics. Bloat removed, system apps added, one game.

I will post more detailed changelogs in a bit.

If by using this ROM the world comes to and end, or you suddenly bring Osama Bin Laden back to life as an unstoppable superhuman zombie who is pissed because the 17 virgins were all butt ugly guys, I take no responsibility for the consequences. Oh yeah. same thing if it screws up your tablet. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Flashing firmware regardless whether it is stock or custom, will likely void your warranty, even if the manufacturer/seller refuse to provide you with same.

It seems the links have issue in Firefox so here are links to the individual pages:

    Black Screen

When I flash either of these on my tablet using Livesuit the ROM flashes successfully but the display is blank. When I turn it on all I see is a dim backlight. I attached the bootloader.img from the original firmware. Rename from .zip to .7z. Please let me know if you find anything. Thanks.

    IT'S BACK!!!

It looks and functions like the factory image so far but perhaps a bit smoother. I haven't had much time to play with it yet. I really appreciate your help. With the steps I took (listed bleow) am I utilizing any of your enhancements or am I back to factory? I don't even know how much I don't know but it's plenty!

A little more info for anyone interested.
I ordered the MID970IPS from Tablet Express. My tablet specs are exactly the same as Rabid1's but on the back of mine the model is listed as MID9716W. I wasn't happy with the factory firmware so decided to try these roms. After flashing I had no display output. A very dim light coming from the black blank screen was the only indicator that it was on. After a lot of back and forth with Rabid1 and a few dozen attempts to flash different roms it's finally working again.

Here are the steps I took in order:

Extracted a new clean A10 Kitchen.
Copied the original four dump files renamed to their proper .fex names into the A10Kitchen\_input folder.
Copied your DragonTouch_MID970IPS_4.0.4.img into the kitchen and renamed it to original.img.
Deleted the existing files from the A10Kitchen\_bootfs folder.
Copied the bootloader files you unpacked from my original bootloader.img into that folder.
    Ran extract_image.bat then create_image.bat
Flashed the new output.img with Livesuit v1.09
Success at last! Thanks again for all your help.

Awesome, see tedious not hard. LOL Do me a favor and keep the imag file and test it for a couple of days. If everything works well, then upload it to a site like rapidshare and send me the link, we will add it with the new model number to this thread.

    Hey Rabid1,

You seem like the most knowledgeable person working with dragon touch tablets. At any rate, I have a 7 inch dragon touch sentry running 4.0.4 which I very much would like to root. I have tried superoneclick and binary's method/program from xda, neither worked. I was wondering is there a noob friendly method for rooting these devices? How did you root yours? Any help would be most appreciated.

    peace

The Sentry is an A13 and should come pre rooted. You can Google Unlock Root and give that a try.

the box says its an A10, under device info it only says 'MID' under the model heading, and as far as I can tell it has not root abilities. for example I tried to set up avast's firewall before any of my rooting attempts, but could not grant it permission. furthermore, after running superoneclick, the SU app was installed, but did not work. I did a factory reset after that. If I feel adventurous I'll give unlock root a try.

out of curiosity, most of these units ship pre-rooted with SU already on them? or is there something else that needs to be done to allow the root capacities to become functional?

sorry for the silly noob questions and many thanks for your response.

    peace peace

Su is what makes it makes root. Superuser or Supersu are just apps that help control root.

If the tablet has HDMI then it is an A10. I was going by the specs online for that model.

it has HDMI. the company seems quite inconsistent with its products and labeling.

so, just to clarify, all these dragon touch devices should be pre-rooted and all I should have to do is install superuser or supersu in order gain/access/manage SU privileges?

if that is the case, why did superuser not work when it was installed by superoneclick?
