    [Release] DJ_Steve's CWM-Based Recovery v4.0.1.4 for Adam

    DJ_Steve's CWM-Based Recovery v4.0.1.4v5

Here is a WIP release of DJ_Steve's recovery. This works either through nvflash or flash_image (I tested both). Everything that I tested worked great for me. I'm sure he'll be adding to it in time as well as making his own release thread. I think he went to bed, and just told me to post it.

    Advantages
    1. Reboot to recovery works in Adamcomb
    2. No need to rename update.zip
    3. Advanced features (fix permisions, wipe dalvik/battery stats, partition ext sd card)
    4. Ability to backup/restore to/from int/ext sdcard.
    5. ADB works while in recovery (I don't know if it works or not in stock.)

    Enjoy!

Install Method One (THE EASY WAY)
    1. Download this http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/notionink/DJ_CWM_4.0.1.4v5.zip
    2. If running stock recovery rename update.zip (if not you can leave alone).
    3. Move the file to sdcard on adam.
    4. Reboot into recovery Install zip.
    5. Next boot into recovery you should be on DJ_CWM 4.0.1.4
Caution: Some people are reporting problems using the zip method. Please let me know if its working for you or not. Thanks

    Install Method TWO

    Install abd + flash_image instructions:
    1. Download img.
    2. Connect adam to pc with load up terminal/cmd prompt.
    3. cd to directory storing downloaded img
    4. type in terminal "adb push recovery-5.img /sdcard/"
    5. then type "adb shell"
    6. then "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-5.img"
    7. It should then install the recovery.

    Install Method THREE
    NVFLASH recovery swap
    1. Download recovery img
    2. Rename recovery.img
    3. Replace with recovery.img you have inside of nvflash

I'm sure there's other ways to install. Feel free to add them in comments and i'll add them here.

EDIT: Here's some preconfigured nvflash zips. http://tabletroms.com/forums/adam-ge...h-mega-hq.html

It replaces your recovery. It's a newer version based off of CWM that DJ_Steve has released.

With this in place will we then be able to make NANDROID backups (I think this is the correct terminology) - an image of the current state of the device.

It is better to know some of the questions than all of the answers.

Yes you can make nandroid backups.

    Advantages
    1. Reboot to recovery works in Adamcomb
    2. No need to rename update.zip
    3. Advanced features (fix permisions, wipe dalvik/battery stats, partition ext sd card)
    4. Ability to backup/restore to/from int/ext sdcard.

I think those are the big ones. Oh ADB works while recovery, idk if that works in stock or not.

    Updated to include instructions.

I also created a flashable zip that can be done right through recovery with no need for adb/etc. EnjoY!

    Thank you for this!

Installed fine using method 1 and have successfully completed a nandroid backup to ext sd.Haven't used it to flash a rom yet.

Just as a heads up -

I can use the physical vol + and - to move thru the menu and then use the Adam soft buttons to select (menu button) and go back (back button)

For me the physical on/off rocker does not work for selection - this maybe as designed and IMHO a good thing. I don't really trust the longevity of this piece of hardware

    Thanks again,

    edit - eek!

Could reboot from cwm to AC3 no probs - did it a couple of times, but have frozen adam now when trying to do regular boot: just a blank screen.

Will unbrick and see if i can replicate and report back.

    Cheers,

    Ok - Unbricked fine.

Took a wee shortcut from here and booted into adam recovery and flashed cwm - all good.
Booted into cwm and restored my nandroid - all good (thank goodness for nandroids and cwm!)

All is working fine now - reboots from cwm and boots from fully off.

So don't know what went wrong first time - anyone else with their experience?
